One Win Leads to Another: The East India Hockey Project (EIHP) utilizes hockey—India’s National Sport, and the most popular sport in Jharkhand—as a tool for social change, women’s empowerment, and Anti-TIP education for girls ages 12-17. Each year, 100-110 girls from rural districts across Jharkhand convene for a week of education and training in region-specific trafficking prevention, culturally relevant women’s health classes, and field hockey skills development. The Program demonstrates how integrating health promotion programming and sport, alongside strong community partnerships and stakeholder engagement, can lead to ongoing social change movements toward human trafficking prevention. The presentation will highlight strengths and limitations of the program, as well as areas of traction and future direction.
