Legal Tools to Fight Human Trafficking & Exploitation for Profit

The law firm of Burg Simpson will be presenting on the legal tools that are available to fight human trafficking and exploitation for profit. Understanding vulnerable populations and who profits from trafficking will give us tools to help end trafficking and support survivors. Burg Simpson has been a Plaintiffs’ trial firm for over 40 years with a team of over 65 attorneys who have taken on some of the wealthiest corporations in the world – and won. This presentation will include an overview of criminal and civil legal tools for survivors, the intersection of criminal and civil law, explore civil remedies available to survivors and conclude with how public policy shapes the law, and how we can improve the law in Colorado to better support survivors and hold traffickers accountable.
