Provost and Executive Vice President Mary Pedersen joined CSU in August 2020 from California Polytechnic State University where she served in successive leadership roles. During her more than 30 years at Cal Poly, she served as interim Provost, Senior Vice Provost for Academic Programs and Planning, as an Associate Professor and Professor in Nutrition, and as department head of Food Science & Nutrition and Associate Dean in the College of Agriculture. Dr. Pedersen earned her B.A. in Biology from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and both her M.S. and Ph.D. in Public Health Nutrition with a minor in lipid biochemistry from the University of California, Los Angeles. She is proud to serve the Ram community, and believes in broad collaboration to promote inclusive excellence to advance education, research, scholarship and outreach for all who work and learn at CSU.
