The Northern Colorado Human Trafficking Symposium (now rebranding as the Human Trafficking
Awareness and Action Symposium) is a premier biennial symposium hosted by the Center for Ethics
and Human Rights at Colorado State University in collaboration with U COUNT, the Richardson
Foundation, and Metropolitan State University of Denver.
This preeminent symposium seeks to engage and educate a global audience on the issue of human
trafficking through research, training, and collaboration. The theme for the 2026 symposium is
‘Challenging Systems, Policies, and Practices that Perpetuate Injustice’.
The event will feature keynote speakers and presentations by survivors, professionals, leading
academic researchers in the field, and influential allies against modern slavery. It will also provide
opportunities for professional development, networking, and continuing education.
The 2026 symposium offers three tracks: a ‘101’ Awareness Track (offered virtually) for students,
faculty, and community members, a ‘201’ Professional track (offered virtually) for professionals
who seek advanced training, and a ‘301’ Research track (offered both virtually and in person) for
researchers and academics that will highlight cutting-edge research in the field.
