Removing the Mystery from Dissociation

PRESENTER: Kelly R Patterson is a survivor of commercial sexual exploitation/sex trafficking; beginning at the early age of 4 and escaping at age 22. Patterson has worked with hundreds of dissociated individuals through her previous private practice and currently via Treasured Lives, a 501c3 non-profit Advocacy organization working with survivors of sex trafficking and CSE. Working with dissociated individuals and helping others to understand them is one of her greatest passions.

Patterson has authored her autobiography in the book “From Trafficked to Treasured”. She has co-authored a book titled “Freedom Cry” while will be published soon. She is also in the process of finalizing the facilitator manual and accompanying workbook titled “The Pendulum”.

DESCRIPTION: Removing the Mystery of Dissociation is presented for the purpose of understanding the survivors’ perspectives and experiences while giving the listener the ability to more easily recognize dissociation.
The listener can expect an inside-out exploration of dissociation on a continuum. This presentation will explain dissociation as it relates to sex trafficking/commercial sexual exploitation with specifics related to childhood experiences.

The audience will learn that dissociation is a common response to trauma and find that the presentation will also normalize dissociation via personal stories and experiences of the presenter.
